In a country where actual tattoos are staunchly frowned upon, some genius has figured out a way to let girls show off some ink without actually going under the needle for permanent work. The trend seems to have started back in late 2011 and then exploded in 2012. ‘We were selling 10,000 pair per month,’ recalls Momo, who owns a small Avant-garde boutique in trendy Harajuku. ‘We even had to restrict customers from entering.’
Although the trend seems to have died down a bit, it’s still going strong, reports Tokyo Fashion Diaries, who has a round-up of some of this summer’s most popular tattoo stockings.
